CMA CGM trials new eco-containers

Published Apr 11, 2012

New containers on trial with CMA CGM have floors made of an advanced reinforced compound material.

The material which is resistant to water, oil and odour reduces the weight of the container floor saving energy used in transportation. It is expected that the material will increase the service life of the container and the floor can be recycled.

Traditional containers have used wood from rainforests for flooring.

CMA CGM now has 130,000 eco-containers including Light Steel Containers, Low Consumption Reefers and Bamboo-floored containers first launched in 2005.
