Why would a boat with a crane be listed under the Road Freight section of Specialist Vehicles? The canals of Venice act the same as the roads in most cities and the boats are the delivery vehicles. As a freight forwarder on holiday in Venice I was intrigued by the way goods were moved around the narrow canals to be distributed by couriers with trolleys. Cartons would be moved on more traditional boats, but pallets would be loaded and unloaded by cranes attached to the back of the boat.
